John is a self taught artist originally from Downpatrick, Co Down in Northern Ireland. He now lives in Australia but spends time in Co Down every year. He has been painting and drawing for as long as he can remember, but after receiving an oil painting set for Christmas when he was twelve, he never looked back. John prefers painting from life and spends most days outdoors capturing subjects in natural light. John also plays the flute at sessions and enjoys sketching his fellow musicians.
